In the wake of the recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, and so many other Black Americans by the police, the Department of Jewish Studies joins the Rutgers community in outrage and grief. We decry the systemic racism and violence that plague our nation, and we stand in solidarity with all who seek to build a more just society. As scholars and teachers, we are committed to listening to and learning from those whose voices have long been silenced. We are committed to addressing patterns of prejudice and discrimination in our society and to engaging in conversations with students and colleagues on these issues.
