Student Awards

Jewish Studies awards: Each spring, the Department of Jewish Studies and the Bildner Center present financial awards to recognize achievements by Rutgers students in the field of Jewish Studies. To be eligible for an award, students must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a declared major or minor in Jewish Studies. Graduate students at Rutgers enrolled in MA or PhD programs who are doing research on a topic in Jewish Studies are also eligible for consideration. Preference is given to students who have a sustained record of achievement in Jewish Studies. All awards are based on academic merit. Prior recipients may reapply.

Jewish Studies awards for Outside Research or Study: These awards enable students to take courses or pursue research related to Jewish Studies at institutions other than Rutgers, whether elsewhere in the United States or abroad. To be eligible for an award, a student must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a declared major or minor in Jewish Studies at Rutgers. Graduate students at Rutgers enrolled in MA or PhD programs who are doing research on a topic in Jewish Studies are also eligible for consideration. The student must have a pre-approved plan for study or research beyond Rutgers. Preference is given to students who have a sustained record of achievement in Jewish Studies. Prior recipients of awards from the Department of Jewish Studies may reapply.
Note: Jewish Studies students who wish to study or do research in Israel may also apply for Study in Israel awards.

Study in Israel awards: The Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life distributes financial awards to full-time Rutgers undergraduate and graduate students for study in Israel at an accredited Israeli university. Students need not be a Jewish Studies major or minor to apply. Consideration will be given only to applicants with documentation of acceptance from an Israeli university or, where relevant, a research project proposal pre-approved by an appropriate faculty member.
