Hilit Surowitz (Assistant Instructor) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Religion at the University of Florida, where she is currently finishing her dissertation ‘A Nação’: Reconstructing Religious Identity in the Early Modern Atlantic World. Her research interests include religion in the Americas, the Jewish communities of the Atlantic World, and diaspora theory.
