Brief talks by Rutgers faculty about the Polish town Opatów and its Jewish past Apt. Jan Kubik, Political Science Jeffrey Shandler, Jewish Studies Nancy Sinkoff, Jewish Studies Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, New York University, will present her father’s illustrated memoir about Apt in the 1920s and 1930s: They Called Me Mayer July: Painted Memories of a Jewish Childhood Before the Holocaust (2007). The program is part of “The European Village”, a 2006-2007 project developed and coordinated by the Rutgers Center for European Studies. |
